The City of Virginia Beach has asked United Way to act as their partner on creating a Virginia Beach Tragedy Fund. People can donate at unitedwayshr.org/vabeach or by texting VABEACH to 41444. If you feel so led, please share these resources. 100% of the funds raised will go to the victims affected by this senseless tragedy in our community.

VB REMEMBERS - A COMMUNITY GATHERING

Thursday, June 6, 2019 - 7:00 PM  

The community is invited to a “VB Remembers” event to help us remember the friends we lost on May 31. The event will be at The Rock Church, located at 640 Kempsville Rd. Program information will be updated soon. The date for the official memorial event will be announced soon.

 

VIRGINIA BEACH UPDATES

  • Gov. Ralph Northam is calling a special legislative session of the Virginia general Assembly in late June to address gun violence.
  • Anyone who visits one of the four Haynes locations & donates to the fund will receive a free special t-shirt to show support for the victims’ families. The blue t-shirts have a heart and the words “Love for VB” on the front. On the back it reads “VB Strong.” The shirts will be available at the showrooms by tonight (Tuesday). Haynes has showrooms in Va Beach, Newport News & Richmond.
  • Virginia Beach city offices are open. Building 2 will remain closed. Offices will be moved to other locations, to be announced.
  • The Hampton Coliseum, Convention Center & Air & Space Center are blue all this week. The Governor’s executive mansion was blue last night. 
  • The City Treasurer’s Office has extended the deadline for personal property and real estate tax payments normally due on June 5. Payments will be considered on-time if paid by Wednesday, June 19. Online payment options and drop boxes at each of the Treasurer’s Office locations are available 24/7. 
  • The Commissioner of the Revenue’s drive-thru will be at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex through Tuesday, June 11. It will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Residents can make their tax payments online or at drop boxes at each of the Treasurer’s Office locations.
